Today we are off to the West Village with Simone (a Kiwi who flatted in Wellington with Kate) so we kind of have own very own tour guide!
We went straight to Joe’s Coffee in the East Village. It’s known as one of the few places with great coffee! Which it did!
Then we cruised around the shops, such great shopping here, probably as there are waaaay more shops and people! We checked out the Apple store, which was really cool and everything is soo much cheaper and they have way more products and variations of product styles! Also as the exchange rate is really good (from NZ to US) at the moment!
We then walked down to Chinatown and Little Italy! Chinatown is pretty trashy with mostly cheap Asian imported products and heaps of vendors hassling you as walk by! It was dirty by there were tonnes of people so thats probably why!
Little Italy was wicked! Heaps of flash restaurants and Pizzera diners, with Italians with slicked back hair standing around outside. We stopped and got a ’slice and a soda’, which is the popular thing to do! There were heaps of ‘college kids’ there hanging out! A slice of pizza is huge, actually everything is 3 times the size of a normal serving!
Later on when we were back in Brooklyn we went to a bar we thought looked cool called ‘Alchemy‘. Which was ironic as the bar was ‘inspired by (the owners) time in the townhouse gastropubs of Hempstead, London’ so I guess its lucky we are headed to London!
Over and out!
this place is great too; http://ninthstreetespresso.com/
